Masters week is a week unlike any other. Alright so I kind 0f stole that line from Jim Nance…which by the way, I absolutely hate. But I really do get excited about this week. The tournament is the most perfect display of golf. Even if you’re not crazy about the game, it’s worth watching just for the beauty. I’ve been lucky enough to see Augusta National in person and it is 10 times more picturesque than what you see on TV.

I don’t always care who wins, although I love seeing Phil go for every green and hit from behind the port-a-potty. It’s the event that I’m mesmerized by. I love the tradition of Bobby Jones…Sam Snead and Byron Nelson. It’s the one major tournament that never changes locations. That’s how good it is. Why go anywhere else? I have a few friends at CBS TV, and the production crew at Augusta has a running $500 bet that anyone can claim if they can find a weed on the course. ANYWHERE on the course…in the rough, next to a pond, under a concession stand, and no one has claimed it for more than 25 years. I’d pay anyone $500 to pull all of the weeds out of my backyard.

You’ll find me in front of a TV most of the next 4 days—eyes glazed over and dreaming of the same day next year.
